4 PLACES TO GO IN SEOUL CITY.

There a lot of places to visit in Seoul city, and most of the places are connected with super easy subway system or other public transportation.

1. Gyeongbokgung Palace

   Address : 161, Sajik-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea

This grand palace is the most iconic and historically significant in Seoul. Built during the Joseon Dynasty, Gyeongbokgung showcases traditional Korean architecture and beautiful gardens. It was designated as a historic site in 1963.

It was also called Bukgung because it was located in the north of the capital.

It was founded according to the construction of the Joseon Dynasty and was initially used as a royal palace, but after being burned down during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592, it remained in ruins for a long time, but was rebuilt during King Gojong’s reign in the late Joseon Dynasty and used as a palace for a while.

Don’t miss the changing of the guard ceremony which takes place at the main gate.

2. Bukchon Hanok Village

  Address : 37, Gyedong-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea

It is a hanok preservation district at the foot of Bukaksan Mountain between Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace, and Geumwon (Biwon), and is also called Bukchon, meaning the upper neighborhood of Cheonggyecheon Stream and Jongno.

Bukchon is the site of a high-end house where high-ranking government officials, royalty, and high-ranking government officials have gathered and lived, and hanoks are all tile-roofed houses of the Joseon Dynasty.

Originally, there were only a few houses and 30 hanoks in this area, but many hanoks were built from the end of the Japanese colonial era, were lifted from the Gahoe-dong Hanok Preservation District in 1992,

and many general buildings were built in 1994. There are a total of 2,297 buildings, of which 1,408 are hanok and the rest are general buildings.

On Bukchon Street, there is a Bukchon Yangban Life Culture Exhibition Hall and a symbol sculpture of Bukchon Hanok Village, and the Gahoe-dong Traditional Village Festival is held where you can see the lives of your ancestors.

There are tourist attractions such as Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace, Deoksugung Palace, Geumwon, and Samcheong Park nearby. The village is walking distance from Geyongbokgung place, and I recomend you to visit just after the palace.

3. N Seoul Tower (Namsan Tower)

  Adress : 105, Namsangongwon-gil, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, South Korea

For breathtaking panoramic views of Seoul, head to N Seoul Tower atop Namsan Mountain. You can hike up the mountain or take a cable car. At night, the tower lights up beautifully, creating a romantic ambiance. As you can see the map above, the tower located in just center of Seoul city.

4. Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP)

  Address : 281, Eulji-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul, South Korea

Designed by the famous architect Zaha Hadid, DDP is a futuristic landmark and a cultural hub. It hosts various exhibitions, fashion shows, and events. The unique architecture itself is a sight to behold, especially when illuminated at night.

It was promoted for the purpose of building a complex cultural space, such as promoting commercial cultural activities due to the parkization of Dongdaemun Stadium, the development of underground spaces, and the construction of design industry support facilities.

The parkization of Dongdaemun Stadium began to be discussed in earnest through the media in 2000, and in 2005, the Seoul Metropolitan Government established a basic plan to replace the functions of Dongdaemun Stadium.

In September 2006, a park project plan was established, and in August 2007, design works were selected through the international invitation phenomenon design competition method, and a basic plan for construction and operation was established in October.

After that, construction began in April 2009, and Dongdaemun History and Culture Park was first opened in October, and the entire construction was completed in November 2013, and opened on March 21, 2014. I recommend you to visit this place at the evening.
